Facility Management

A holistic approach is needed

As factory planners, we do not only focus on the construction of factories, but also on their efficient and economical operation. With a holistic facility management concept, we ensure the proper operation of a site:

  • Technical Facility Management
  • Commercial Facility Management
  • Infrastructure Facility Management
  • Space Management

The FM concept: secondary processes under one roof

We define the term Facility Management in accordance with GEFMA, the German Facility Management Association:

  • Facility Management, as a management discipline, combines all site-related secondary processes in order to support a company’s core business.

Comprehensive requirements: usability quality from A to Z

The requirements for facility management are correspondingly broad (see GEFMA 100-1):

  • Support of the company’s core processes
  • Ensuring health protection, safety, and performance of workplaces
  • Preservation of structural and technical asset value
  • Enabling high levels of usability at minimal operating costs

Scope of our specialist consulting

LogistikPlan’s facility management consulting focuses on four fields, shown here using the LogistikPlan industry competence field Health Care (hospitals, pharmaceuticals, healthcare services) as an example:

1. Process and logistics management

  • Planning, control, and monitoring of secondary processes
  • Insourcing and outsourcing
  • Re-engineering of business processes

2. Materials management and intralogistics

We view the operation of site logistics and intralogistics as an integral part of infrastructure facility management:

  • Ensuring supply and disposal logistics
  • Operation of internal transport
  • Management of traffic and parking areas
While at production sites we focus on classic tasks such as warehouse planning and material flow planning, in hospitals we design more specialized logistics functions:
  • Procurement, inventory management, and storage of consumables
  • Laboratory logistics / pharmacy logistics / cabinet supply / modular services
  • Laundry supply / catering logistics / bed processing / sterilization
  • Intralogistics systems (manual and automated transport systems, transport and handling of containers, equipment, furniture, etc.)
  • Supply of operating theaters and special-demand units
  • Waste logistics (collection, transport, disposal)
  • Additional services: see Logistics Consulting and Logistics Planning

3. Building cleaning and hygiene management

  • Routine cleaning of building areas (e.g. hospitals in general, operating rooms, nursing homes)
  • Tree, green and paved area maintenance / pest control / façade and glass cleaning / winter services
  • Preventive infection control / operational disinfection
  • Quality control of cleaning processes

4. Relocation management

Planning and management of projects involving internal relocations, regional site relocations, production expansions, or commissioning of logistics centers

  • Strategic relocation planning
  • Technical relocation planning
  • Coordination of relocation and interim processes including schedule and cost management
  • Consulting on ergonomic workplace and area furnishing
  • Monitoring of installations and commissioning
  • Additional services: see Project Management
